Blog 20.7.2010 Being Grounded
I was at the shops the other day and the assistant was a lovely lady who was a little clumsy and forgetful. She said she had always been that way. I knew immediately that she wasn’t grounded properly. I asked her if she was intuitive and she said very much so. She also said she was a bit frightened of people ‘like me’, which was ironic as she was ‘like me’ just hadn’t acknowledged it. I’m used to this respond by now of course but it always makes me sigh at just how little people know about their own God given abilities.
We are all intuitive. We usually get it drummed out of us by sceptical parents, religious paranoia or just a difficult life but we end up in our later years with this feeling of longing, an emptiness. A distant memory of when we used to be in tune with nature and to trust our ‘vibes’. This empty feeling can be filled by addressing our spiritual side. Remembering that we are a spiritual being having a physical experience.
Anyway, to get back to grounding, sometimes when as children we are sensitive and have parents who maybe argue a lot or don’t treat us well we sort of want to escape. We disconnect with the earth and float a few inches, or more above it. I’m talking energetically here obviously. I’ve mentioned before about our pranic tube, the tube which connects us with the heavens above and the earth below. It connects us to the earth’s energies. As children when we want to escape we withdraw our connection up into us and life seems a little less tiresome. We can be dreamy and dance with the fairies. We do this instinctively. It’s a survival mechanism but we should now try to connect every day. We all need to be grounded to fully appreciate life’s lessons and our time here on earth.
Again, it is our intention and visualization that helps with this. Our mind is our creative tool which actualizes what we need, one way or another. Feel your energy tube coming out from the base of your spine and penetrating deep into mother earth. Very deep as to connect to her core. You can also imagine tree roots coming out from your feet and going into the earth, maybe hanging onto large crystals or rocks in the ground. Very simply feel your feet on the ground. Be aware of your footsteps, of the ground beneath you. Walk barefoot in your garden.
If you are very flighty and maybe trip a lot then you could try wearing a bracelet of hematite, smokey quartz or other grounding crystals. I have a ball of hematite which I get people to hold if, after a healing session, they are a bit light headed.
Food will ground you. A lot of people who have trouble with being overweight are, at some level, desperately trying to ground themselves. Our food habits are taught to us at a very early age so we can’t blame being overweight entirely on being ungrounded! Mediums will often eat something regularly during a day of ‘connecting’ to world of spirit. Try not to use food but it is a quick and easy way to ground yourself.
The more in tune with our intuitive abilities we are the more grounded we need to be. We can go a lot ‘higher’ if properly grounded. Sometimes when we feel life is too hard we escape to the land of imagination and the spirit world where it feels nicer, more loving, but ultimately we are here on this planet of emotions to feel and deal with all the emotions that come our way.
If you have a child who tends to trip or fall over a lot teach them to be aware of their feet on the ground. Bare feet on the sand is good and one of the reasons we feel so good at the beach. Cover their feet with sand and get them to imagine that they are a tree with roots going way down. Let them dig in the garden, plant some seedlings; let them feel the earth in their hands. Get muddy. It’s amazing how many children today have never felt the earth in their hands.
Appreciate the earth and connect with her. Go for a good walk! Blessings.
