For over 3000 years there have been images of angels. I think that they have been around since the beginning of time. They are mentioned in The Old Testament, captured in pagan sculptures, Egyptian paintings and early middle eastern civilization, everywhere in the world there has been some portrayal of heavenly beings. They weren’t always depicted as beautiful winged creatures but wings seem to be a common theme. The Greeks and Romans had some really beautiful statues of these messengers from God. I love angels. Expect we all do.
By God’s permission or command, the Angels are able to assume human form when appearing to men. By the same Divine permission and in virtue of their natural powers, the Angels are able to produce beautiful music and wondrous visions. Angels are different beings to our guides. I don’t believe they have ever been mortal, have lived on earth as we do. They are God’s helpers. They will always come when called to offer protection and guidance. There are so many angels that I will just have a look at a few ‘biggies’.

Archangel Michael He who is like God – He is called a prince and is the ‘head’ angel.( Saint Michael) is a warrior angel and with his sword he fights for God and for us all against all negativity. He is all about truth. His colour is blue and sometimes people see a blue light when he is around. Although his chakra is the throat chakra this light is not to be mistaken with the blue light of communication that can be seen around a spiritual teacher. His light is usually seen in flashes of blue like a blue sword cutting though the air. I always call Archangel Michael to me when practising healing and ask him to remove any fears and negativity from in and around my client. His energy is powerful and no nonsense and he definitely comes to protect and defend. He is the protector of the earth. Archangel Michael has an army of angels at his command. It is he and these angels who come to help us when we ask for help. He also helps with motivation, activation and achievement. His sword of truth and love will cut through any chains and he is all about courage and love. He will help you to cut away the old stuff and move forward.

Archangel Gabriel (Saint Gabriel) is all about communications. His colour is silver, white and blue and works with the base chakra. He is also mentioned in the bible and he sort of announces things. He was probably the angel who brought ‘good tidings of great joy’ to the shepherds. Gabriel is the angel who spoke to John the Baptist and the Virgin Mary. He is often called the strength of God. He is known as “man of God’. Gabriel brings us hope and truth and he is known to help with intuition and receptivity. He usually is shown with a trumpet or horn as he uses this to announce future events (like the coming of Christ) usually appears as a male but sometimes comes as a female (androgynous). It doesn’t matter, it’s all about the energy. He’s supposed to be able to help with clairvoyance.

Archangel Raphael or ‘God heals’ is the divine healer. Healing for the mind, body and soul. His colour is green and he works with the third eye. (You would think that it might be violet with this chakra but it isn’t.) He is another of the chief angels and his job is to bring healing to the earth, the young and he is called upon when travelling. (There are other patron saints for this too). He is associated with spring and rebirth. Archangel Raphael rules over many healing angels who come when we ask for help to heal. He has a loving and warm energy whose gentle yet strong healing allows us to find our way, to heal ourselves.

Archangel Uriel or God is light or God is my light. He works with the solar plexus and his job is to remind humanity to love God. The pure love of the spirit. He holds the flame of love which ignites the heart in service to God. He imparts ancient wisdom and knowledge to all that seek such. He serves the ray of peace. Peaceful resolutions for disagreements. So the next time you find yourself having an argument with someone, call in Archangel Uriel and ask for healing for the situation for the best for all concerned.

So the Archangels head the armies (to use a better word) of angels who are all about helping and healing. They are intelligent, wise and powerful. You can call upon them at any time and they will come. Remember, we have free will and we have to ask for help before it can be given. In emergencies or for the young they may intercede and protect at God’s will. They are real and are busy with many jobs but love to assist us. There are many more angels, but as I like to touch on subjects and not get too bogged down on one thing, I’ll leave it here.
