The Basics

Blog 21.8.2010 - The Basics

There are many books out there on spiritual matters all saying pretty much the same thing just in different words and formats. A lot of them are modern interpretations of the classics of Alice Bailey and the like. Love versus Fear. Truth is truth. I’m trying to write some practical ways for those trying to help find the truth for themselves. Here are some of the basic spiritual practises which will help you on your path to enlightenment.

The first thing is to realise how powerful your mind is. Using visualisation, imagination and intent we can create a better world for ourselves. It is especially important if you wish to heal yourself. No amount of pills or vitamins will cure you if your head isn’t in the right space. As you wash your outer body every day it is important to cleanse your inner body. To do this bathe yourself in a steam of light. If you have trouble visualising light stand under an electric light until you get the hang of it. See the light entering your head and filling you up. Like pouring water into a jug, keep filling yourself until the light flows out into your aura and keep going. If you have an area of concern within your body send light directly to that area. See the light dissolve away any problems. Light increases your vibration. Your higher vibration affects your surroundings. Become radiant!

Our emotions affect our physical body and that emotional energy goes to the chakra or energy centres of the body. Send light to your chakras. I have written about chakras earlier so scroll down if you wish to find out more on these. Focus on each chakra and clear away all negativity with the light. You don’t have to ‘see’ this just know that it will happen.

It is nice to feel all light, love and spiritual by being ‘up there’ but you can’t go very ‘high’ unless you are grounded. Scroll down to see my blog on being grounded. Now it’s important to know that as you become more filled with light your life will start to evolve. You may have to face challenges as you let go of things (and people) in your life that no longer serve this spiritual growth. This includes your own attitudes, beliefs and judgements that may need changing. Believe that you can grow with joy and success.

Meditation is a huge tool for spiritual growth. It allows you to settle and quietly tune into yourself and your guidance. If you haven’t got the time to sit still and contemplate or meditate for a while then you haven’t got time for yourself, for your growth as a soul. That’s going to be one of the things you wish you had done when you pass over. It won’t be about wishing you had bought that new house or car! It’s no wonder there are so many books and CD’s on meditation. It’s so important.

Protection from other people’s negative energies and emotions is another basic. Try not to let others ‘press your buttons’ or pull you into their dramas. Give support and love but stay detached. There is nothing more damaging to your spiritual growth than over reacting to drama. Again using your beautiful mind, see a bubble of golden or white light surrounding you. You can see a cloak of light wrapping around you protecting you from head to foot. I physically move my hands to draw a protective barrier around me. The more you are in a place of light and love the less you will need to do this as your higher vibration will keep a barrier up but hey, we all get tired and forget so try to get into a habit of protecting yourself with the energy of light every day.

LOVE people for the soul that they are. You can always forgive a soul if not the action of the individual. Release your need for others to be how you want them to be, love them warts and all. This doesn’t mean putting up with being treated badly, you must love yourself, but that’s another topic. Love yourself and ask yourself if at some level you are contributing to their behaviour (no need for blame). Send love from your heart to all situations.

Non judgement – who are we to judge others? We are all souls on a journey, some further up the road than others, but all the same, on the same road. Whatever we say and do everything comes back to us. What goes round comes round is the saying and it’s true. Send out hateful words and thoughts and sooner or later you will get them back in one way or another. I’m probably teaching to the converted because I’m sure you, the reader, love always.

Detachment – The aim here is to cultivate a detached attitude to outcomes whilst remaining spiritually attached (let go and let God).

Non Criticism. Criticism is from what is called the ‘lower mind’ and can hurt and wound and will stop everyone who practices such from proceeding along the spiritual path. If we can all practice detachment and know that the universal laws are here to assist us and never to criticise ourselves or others then we would enter the age of light and love. Hallelujah!

Love all things. God Bless. Colette
